final assignment

I have my final class tomorrow. Below are the shots that I used for my last assignment. My homework was again the same three shots - Stop Action, Blur and Depth of Field. We had to chose a theme and it could be anything, so I chose bikes. We had to control the ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed as well as the white balance. And we had to get prints done to bring to class, not the digital version, and they had to be at least 8x10. The first two are my depth of field shots, followed by stop action and finishing with blur. Wish me luck!

photo class, week 2 assignment

For my 2nd week assignment, I had the same task with a little twist. I needed to capture 3 pictures (blur, stop action and depth of field) but this time on manual; I had to control the aperture, shutter and use the meter to determine the exposure - and I had a subject...a hand. I haven't finished yet, I still need the stop action, but below are what I have so far. First 2 pictures are depth of field and the 2nd two are the blurry.

Photo Assignment week 1 (cont.)

Here are some more stop action photos taken with a fast shutter speed to stop motion. The first pic is of Foster catching his ball, and the rest are of water flowing, bubbling and pouring in my bathroom sink:

photo assignment 1 (cont.)

The third type of picture is a freeze action shot, again using the shutter. This time, using a much faster shutter speed than in the previous type of picture, to keep everything in focus during movement. I would still like to get a better shot to turn in and i'll update the post if/when I get it done.

photo assignment 1 (cont.)

The next type of picture I needed was one where you control the shutter to get a blurred object in motion by keeping the shutter open for an extended period of time. This time the focal object is blurry, and the rest is in focus.

Photography class - assignment 1

Andrea got me a wonderful present this year; a photography class! I am learning how to use my camera outside of the 'automatic' settings. In my first class, I learned about the shutter and apeture and my first assignment was to get 3 types of pictures. First using the apeture, controlling how much light is let in, with the purpose of the subject being in focus, and the background being blurry. Below are my first attempts:
